The list of words is compiled by Edward William Dolch, PHD, in 1948. The words consist of 220 "serviced words" also known as Sight Words or Dolch 220.

The list also consists of the most common words used in the English language.

Many of the pronunciation of the Dolch 220 cannot be phonetically pronounced. You have to learn it by "sight", that means memorizing them.
